## Abstract

A cell phone is converted into a limited use camera. The camera is formed by removing the circuit board of a used, discarded cell phone; reprogramming the firmware memory of the cell phone to conform it to the intended camera use; and repackaging the cell phone in a functionally appropriate housing. The reprogrammed camera phone has the capability of transmitting a picture, via the Internet, to a website where the pictures can be viewed and downloaded for printing.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A camera phone, consisting of:
a housing;
a camera within the housing comprising a digital photo optic array and a lens for imaging a subject on the array;
a memory for storage of digital images recorded on the array; and
a cellular transmitter operative to transmit digital images stored in the memory to only a single predetermined Internet address.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A camera phone system comprising a camera phone is defined in claim 1 and a computer server at said Internet address operative to generate an Internet website, the website including graphical image displays based on the digital images transmitted to the predetermined Internet address by the camera phone.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The camera phone of claim 1 wherein certain of the components disposed in the housing are arrayed on a circuit board derived from a used, discarded cell phone.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The cell phone system of claim 2 wherein a digital photo-optic imaging array constitutes a CMOS array.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The cell phone system of claim 2 wherein the digital photo-optic imaging array constitutes a CCD array.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The camera phone of claim 1 wherein the camera further comprising a GPS chip connected to the memory so as to store a GPS signal indicating the location of the camera phone at the time a digital image is stored in memory.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1, 2)

The method of manufacturing a camera phone of the type set forth in claim 1 comprising steps of:
(1) removing the circuit board from a used, discarded cell phone having a camera function;
(2) reprogramming the firmware memory of the cell phone to enable the camera phone function set forth in claim 2; and
(3) deposing the reprogrammed circuit board in a camera phone housing.

### Claim 8

A camera phone comprising:
a microprocessor;
a digital imaging array;
a lens;
a memory connected to receive digital images of photographs taken through the lens from said digital imaging array;
a firmware memory;
a cellular transmitter having its capability limited to transmitting digital images stored in said memory to a single, predetermined internet address through a cellular system; and
operator controls to enabling the recording of digital images in the memory, the deletion of designated digital images stored in said memory, and the transmission of digital images stored in said memory to said Internet address at programmed times.
