## Abstract

Disclosed is a white polymer organic electroluminescent device having excellent device characteristics such as efficiency. Specifically disclosed is a white organic electroluminescent device containing a polymer material as an electron-transporting material or a light-emitting material, wherein at least two light-emitting layers emitting light of different colors are laminated and at least one of the light-emitting layers is a crosslinked light-emitting layer. The white organic electroluminescent device is further characterized by emitting a white light as a whole. Preferably, at least one of the crosslinked light-emitting layers and at least one of the non-crosslinked light-emitting layers are in contact with each other in the white organic electroluminescent device.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A white organic electroluminescent device which comprises a laminate of at least two light-emitting layers emitting light of different colors and containing a polymer material as a charge-transporting material or a light-emitting material, at least one of the light-emitting layers being a crosslinked light-emitting layer, and which emits a white light as a whole.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A white organic electroluminescent device according to claim 1, wherein at least one of the crosslinked light-emitting layers and at least one of the non-crosslinked light-emitting layers are in contact with each other.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A device according to claim 1 which is obtained by a method including steps of forming a crosslinkable light-emitting layer by coating, crosslinking the light-emitting layer, and then laminating other light-emitting layer on the crosslinked light-emitting layer.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A device according to claim 1, wherein the crosslinking is carried out with a crosslinking agent and the crosslinking agent contains no aromatic ring.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

A device according to claim 1, wherein the crosslinking agent has a group selected from a group consisting of vinyl group, acetylene group, butenyl group, acryl group, acrylate group, acrylamide group, methacryl group, methacrylate group, methacrylamide group, vinyl ether group, vinylamino group, silanol group, cyclopropyl group, cyclobutyl group, epoxy group, oxetane group, diketene group, episulfide group, lactone group and lactam group.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

A device according claim 1, wherein the crosslinking agent is a (meth)acrylate.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

A device according to claim 6, wherein the crosslinking agent is a (meth)acrylate of an aliphatic alcohol.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

A device according to claim 6, wherein the crosslinking agent is a bi- or higher-functional (meth)acrylate.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

A device according to claim 8, wherein the crosslinking agent is dipentaerythritol penta- or hexa-acrylate.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

A device according claim 1, wherein the polymer material is a conjugated polymer compound.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

A device according claim 1, wherein the polymer material has a repeating unit derived from an aromatic amine.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

A device according claim 1, wherein the colors of lights emitted from at least two light-emitting layers are red and blue.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

A planar light source using the device of claim 1.
