Abstract
The invention relates to a resistance gene and functional homologues or fragments thereof isolated from S. bulbocastanum. More over, the invention relates to the use of said resistance gene, for example the use of said resistance gene in a method to increase or confer at least partial resistance in a plant to an oomycte infection. The invention provides an isolated or recombinant nucleic acid sequence comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding one of the amino acid sequences of FIG. 6 or a functional fragment or a functional homologue thereof.

An isolated or recombinant nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding the amino acid sequence Rpi-blb3 of FIG. 6 or a functional fragment or a functional homologue thereof.
