Abstract
An inbred maize line, designated HMA699ND, is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of inbred maize line HMA699ND, to the plants of inbred maize line HMA699ND and to methods for producing a maize plant, either inbred or hybrid, by crossing the inbred line HMA699ND with itself or another maize line. The invention further relates to methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other inbred maize lines derived from the inbred HMA699ND.
Claims37
Seed of maize inbred line designated HMA699ND, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9428.
A method for producing a HMA699ND-derived maize plant, comprising:
- (a) crossing inbred maize line HMA699ND, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC accession No. PTA-9428, with a second maize plant to yield progeny maize seed;
- and
- (b) growing said progeny maize seed, under plant growth conditions, to yield said HMA699ND-derived maize plant.
A method of introducing a desired trait into maize inbred line HMA699ND comprising:
- (a) crossing HMA699ND plants grown from HMA699ND seed, representative seed of which has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9428, with plants of another maize line that comprise a desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants;
- (b) selecting F1 progeny plants that have the desired trait;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the HMA699ND plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of maize inbred line HMA699ND listed in Table 1 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) one or more times in succession to produce selected backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and substantially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize inbred line HMA699ND listed in Table 1 when grown in the same environmental conditions.
A maize plant, or a part thereof, having all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize inbred line HMA699ND, wherein a sample of the seed of maize inbred line HMA699ND was deposited under ATCC Accession NO. PTA-9428.
