Abstract
A system and method of controlling position of a pick-up head of an optical drive, including manipulating the position of the pick-up head as a primary variable in a cascade control scheme, and manipulating current flowing through the pick-up head as a secondary variable in the cascade control scheme.
Claims21
A method of controlling position of a pick-up head of an optical drive, comprising:
- manipulating the position of the pick-up head as a primary variable in a cascade control scheme;
- and
- manipulating current flowing through the pick-up head as a secondary variable in the cascade control scheme.
A method of manufacturing an optical drive, comprising:
- providing a position controller of a pick-up head in the optical drive, wherein the position controller is a primary controller in a cascade control structure of the pick-up head;
- and
- providing a current flow controller of the pick-up head, wherein the current controller is a secondary controller in the cascade control structure.
An optical drive comprising:
- an optical pick-up head configured to record/read data tracks of a optical data storage disc;
- a position controller of the pick-up head, wherein the position controller is a primary controller in a cascade control scheme of the pick-up head;
- and
- a current controller of the pick-up head, wherein the current controller is a secondary controller in the cascade control scheme.
