A process for the preparation of the compound of the following formula 1,
- wherein X is either Cl or imidazole,
- comprising reacting 5-(5-fluoro-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-indol-(3Z)-ylidenemethyl)-2,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid (compound 4)
- either with a chlorinating agent or with 1,1-carbonyldiimidazole.
In a process for preparing sunitinib or a salt thereof, the step of reacting 5-(5-fluoro-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-indol-(3Z)-ylidenemethyl)-2,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid (compound 4)
- either with a chlorinating agent or with 1,1-carbonyldiimidazole.
