Method and apparatus for decoding/encoding a video signal

A method for managing a reference picture by a decoder, comprising:

• receiving a multi-view video data stream including a random access picture including a random access slice, the random access slice referencing only a slice corresponding to a same time and a different view of the random access picture;
• obtaining random access flag from a multi-view video data stream, the random access flag indicating whether a type of a current picture is a random access picture;
• initializing a reference picture list of the random access picture when the type of the current picture represents the random access picture according to the random access flag, wherein an inter-view reference picture for inter-view prediction on the reference picture list is ordered based on inter-view reference information indicating a prediction relationship between a plurality of views;
• obtaining modification information from the multi-view video data stream for the initialized reference picture list, wherein the modification information indicates that at least one of a short-term temporal reference picture, a long-term temporal reference picture and the inter-view reference picture is modified;
• obtaining an assignment modification value for modifying a reference index of at least one of a short-term temporal reference picture, a long-term temporal reference picture and the inter-view reference picture in the initialized reference picture list according to the modification information;
• and
• modifying the initialized reference picture list of the random access picture using the assignment modification value,
• wherein in the modifying step, the position of any other remaining pictures is shifted to later in the initialized reference picture list.

An apparatus for managing a reference picture, comprising:

• a NAL parsing unit configured to receive a multi-view video data stream including a random access picture including a random access slice, the random access slice referencing only a slice corresponding to a same time and a different view of the random access picture;
• the NAL parsing unit configured to obtain random access flag from a multi-view video data stream, the random access flag indicating whether a type of a current picture is a random access picture;
• a reference picture list initializing unit configured to initialize a reference picture list of the random access picture when the type of the current picture represents the random access picture according to the random access flag, wherein an inter-view reference picture for inter-view prediction on the reference picture list is ordered based on inter-view reference information indicating a prediction relationship between a plurality of views;
• a reference picture list modifying unit configured to obtain modification information from the multi-view video data stream for the initialized reference picture list, wherein the modification information indicates that at least one of a short-term temporal reference picture, a long-term temporal reference picture and the inter-view reference picture is modified;
• the reference picture list modifying unit configured to obtain an assignment modification value for modifying a reference index of at least one of a short-term temporal reference picture, a long-term temporal reference picture and the inter-view reference picture in the initialized reference picture list according to the modification information;
• and
• the reference picture list modifying unit configured to modify the initialized reference picture list of the random access picture using the assignment modification value,
• wherein in the modifying, the position of any other remaining pictures is shifted to later in the initialized reference picture list.
