Abstract
An information processing apparatus determines whether a particular operation on a first file, for example, is restricted or not. The information processing apparatus also restricts the particular operation on a second file related to the first file if the particular operation on the first file is restricted.
Claims18
An information processing apparatus, comprising:
- a storage unit capable of storing first image data, second image data and management information indicating at least information about an attribute of the second image data, the second image data is related to the first image data and is in a format different from that of the first image data;
- a setting unit which makes a setting that restricts the operation on the first image data by adding license information to the first image data, the license information is used to identify information which define rights to perform an operation on the first image data;
- and
- a restricting unit which restricts an operation on the second image data by rewriting management information on second image data related to the first image data if the operation on the first image data is restricted by the setting unit.
A method of restricting an operation on image data, comprising the steps of:
- making a setting that restricts an operation on first image data stored in a storage unit by adding license information to the first image data for identifying information defining a right to perform the operation on the first image data;
- and
- restricting an operation on the second image data by rewriting management information on second image data that is related to the first image data and stored in the storage unit if the operation on the first image data is restricted at the step of making a setting.
A computer program for causing a computer to perform the steps of:
- making a setting that restricts an operation on first image data stored in a storage unit by adding license information to the first image data for identifying information defining a right to perform the operation on the first image data;
- and
- restricting an operation on the second image data by rewriting management information on second image data that is related to the first image data and stored in the storage unit if the operation on the first image data is restricted at the step of making a setting.
An information processing system including one or more information processing apparatuses and a server,
- the information processing apparatus or apparatuses comprising:
- a unit which transmits identification information identifying first image data to the server;
- a unit which receives, from the server, information as to whether a particular operation on the first image data is restricted or not;
- a unit which determines on the basis of the received information whether the particular operation on the first image data is restricted or not;
- and
- a unit which restricts the particular operation on a second image data related to the first image data if the particular operation on the first image data is restricted, and
- the server comprising:
- a unit which receives identification information identifying the first image data from the information processing apparatus;
- a unit which acquires the information associated with the received identification information;
- and
- a unit which transmits the acquired information to the information processing apparatus.
An information processing apparatus connected to an image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a job generating unit which generates print job data for a first file a particular operation on which is restricted;
- and
- a job transmitting unit which transmits restriction information to the image forming apparatus along with the print job data, said restriction information being used for restricting the particular operation on a second image data that is obtained by converting the print job data on the image forming apparatus.
A method of restricting an operation on a file, comprising the steps of:
- generating print job data for a first file a particular operation on which is restricted;
- and
- transmitting restriction information to an image forming apparatus along with the print job data, said restriction information being used for restricting the particular operation on a second file that is obtained by converting the print job data on the image forming apparatus.
A computer program which functions as a driver software of an image forming apparatus, executing the steps of:
- generating print job data for a first file a particular operation on which is restricted;
- and
- transmitting restriction information to an image forming apparatus along with the print job data, said restriction information being used for restricting the particular operation on a second file that is obtained by converting the print job data on the image forming apparatus.
An information processing system including an information processing apparatus and an image forming apparatus,
- the information processing apparatus comprising:
- a job generating unit which generates print job data for a first file a particular operation on which is restricted;
- and
- a job transmitting unit which transmits restriction information to the image forming apparatus along with the print job data, said restriction information being used for restricting the particular operation on a second file that is obtained by converting the print job data on the image forming apparatus;
- and
- the image forming apparatus comprising:
- a job receiving unit which receives print job data for the first file and the restriction information;
- a converting unit which converts the print job data to generate a second file including a bitmap image;
- and
- a restricting unit which restricts a particular operation on the second file in accordance with the restriction information received along with the print job data.
