Abstract
A system and method for providing a password to a user on a network, the network having provider computer and a user computer, the provider computer comprising a password system configured to issue a password to a user of the user computer for use in accessing age-restricted content once a determination has been made that the user is age appropriate.

A password providing system configured to issue a password to a user of the user computer for use in accessing age-restricted content, comprising at least one processor for connection on a network and configured to:
- receive a request for a password from a user computer on the network;
- receive from a user computer over the network, a still or video image of a user of the user computer, provided by a camera associated with the user computer;
- receive an image of an identification document having identification information associated with the user of the user computer;
- display the still or video image and the identification document on a display device associated with the processor, at a location remote from the user computer, to allow an operator at the remote computer to compare the still or video image against the information on the identification document and make a determination from that comparison if the age of the user of the user computer is of appropriate age for receipt of the password;
- and
- transmit the password to the user computer upon a determination by the operator that the user of the user computer is of appropriate age for receipt of the password.
A password providing method for issuing a password to a user of the user computer for use in accessing age-restricted content, the method comprising:
- receiving, by at least one processor, a request for a password from a user computer on the network;
- receiving, by the at least one processor from a user computer over the network, a still or video image of a user of the user computer, provided by a camera associated with the user computer;
- receiving, by the at least one processor from the user computer over the network, an image of an identification document having identification information associated with the user of the user computer;
- displaying the still or video image and the identification document on a display device associated with the processor, at a location remote from the user computer, to allow an operator at the remote computer to compare the still or video image against the information on the identification document and make a determination from that comparison if the age of the user of the user computer is of appropriate age for receipt of the password;
- and
- transmitting the password to the user computer upon a determination by the operator that the user of the user computer is of appropriate age for receipt of the password.
