Abstract
Systems and methods of the present invention provide for migrating a hosted account and IP address among shared hosting resources using static routing by migrating a hosted account and an associated IP address from a first network resource to a second network resource.
Claims16
A method performed by at least one microprocessor executing a plurality of instructions stored on at least one computer-readable media, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) hosting a Hosted Account on a First Hardware Resource, the Hosted Account associated with an IP Address;
- and
- b) migrating the Hosted Account and the IP Address to a Second Hardware Resource using static routing.
A method performed by at least one microprocessor executing a plurality of instructions stored on at least one computer-readable media, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) hosting a Hosted Account on a First Hardware Resource, the Hosted Account associated with an IP Address managed with a Loopback Interface attached to the IP Address;
- b) accessing the Hosted Account via a Server Software on the First Hardware Resource and a static route on a Router;
- and
- c) migrating, via static routing, the Hosted Account and the IP Address to a Second Hardware Resource using a Provisioning System that performs the steps of:
- i) assigning the Hosted Account to the IP Address;
- ii) establishing a Server Software on the Second Hardware Resource;
- iii) instantiating the IP Address to be migrated to the Second Hardware Resource;
- iv) performing mounting and access checks for a Shared Storage associated with the IP Address and the Hosted Account;
- v) configuring local processes on and verifying proper operation of the Second Hardware Resource;
- vi) updating a Routing Table on the Router using static routing so that the IP Address migrated is serviced by the Second Hardware Resource, thereby accomplishing a route swing;
- and
- vii) removing configuration data, processes and data mounts from the First Hardware Resource.
A system comprising:
- a) a First Hardware Resource and a Second Hardware Resource communicatively coupled to a network;
- b) a Hosted Account, accessible via a static route on a Router and a Server Software on the First Hardware Resource;
- c) an IP Address associated with the Hosted Account and attached to and managed by a Loopback Interface;
- and
- d) a Provisioning System comprising:
- i) means for assigning the Hosted Account to the IP Address;
- ii) means for establishing the Server Software on the Second Hardware Resource;
- iii) means for instantiating the IP Address to be migrated to the Second Hardware Resource;
- iv) means for performing mounting and access checks for a Shared Storage associated with the IP Address and the Hosted Account;
- v) means for configuring local processes on and verifying proper operation of the Second Hardware Resource;
- vi) means for updating a Routing Table on a Router using static routing so that the IP Address migrated is serviced by the Second Hardware Resource, thereby accomplishing a route swing;
- and
- vii) means for removing configuration data, processes and data mounts from the First Hardware Resource.
