Abstract
A measurement module for glucose testing includes a glucose testing measurement module housing, a test strip receptacle formed in the housing, and a connector portion formed in the housing and shaped to permit mechanical removable attachment of the housing to a hand-held computer. Electronics determine the amount of glucose present in a sample of body fluid, when the test strip is positioned in the receptacle and the body fluid is placed on a test strip, and communicate the glucose amount to the hand-held computer via the connector portion.

A software program configured to run on a handheld electronic processing device including a processor, a memory, a communication unit, and a touchscreen display, the software program comprising:
- instructions for the processor to perform the steps of:
- receiving information related to diabetes management;
- storing the received information related to diabetes management in the memory;
- analyzing the stored information related to diabetes management;
- and
- transmitting the analyzed information related to diabetes management and/or the stored information related to diabetes management using the communication unit.
A software program configured to run on a handheld electronic processing device including a processor, a memory, a communication unit, and a touchscreen display, the software program comprising:
- instructions for the processor to perform the steps of:
- receiving information related to diabetes management, the information related to diabetes management comprising glucose measurement information, wherein the receiving comprises receiving the glucose measurement information from a glucose measurement module comprising a test strip receptacle;
- storing the received information related to diabetes management in the memory;
- analyzing the stored information related to diabetes management;
- and
- transmitting the analyzed information related to diabetes management and/or the stored information related to diabetes management using the communication unit.
A system comprising:
- a handheld electronic processing device comprising
- a memory,
- a communication unit,
- a touchscreen display, and
- a processor connected to the memory, the communication unit and the display;
- and
- a software program configured to run on the handheld electronic processing device, the software program comprising
- instructions for the processor to perform the steps of
- receiving information related to diabetes management,
- storing the received information related to diabetes management in the memory,
- analyzing the stored information related to diabetes management, and
- transmitting the analyzed information related to diabetes management and/or the stored information related to diabetes management using the communication unit.
