Methods, Computer Program Product, and Computer System for Language-Enhanced Programming Tools

A method for translating statements of a computer program from a source natural language to a target natural language, the method comprising the steps of:

• identifying textual constructs of the computer program to be translated from a source natural language to a target natural language;
• identifying lexical tokens from the identified textual constructs;
• translating the identified textual constructs and lexical tokens from the source natural language to the target natural language;
• reconstructing the translated textual constructs and lexical tokens as translated textual constructs;
• and
• displaying the translated textual constructs in the target natural language.

A computer-readable medium for storing a computer program product, wherein the computer-readable medium comprises instructions that are executable by a computer and when executed cause the computer to translate statements of a computer program from a source natural language to a target natural language by performing the steps of:

• identifying textual constructs of another computer program to be translated from a source natural language to a target natural language;
• identifying lexical tokens from the identified textual constructs;
• translating the identified textual constructs and lexical tokens from the source natural language to the target natural language;
• reconstructing the translated textual constructs and lexical tokens as translated textual constructs;
• and
• displaying the translated textual constructs in the target natural language.

A method of operating a computer system to translate statements from a source natural language to a target natural language, the method comprising the steps of causing the computer system to:

• identify source code constructs of a computer program, the constructs including words in a source natural language, wherein the words of the construct are to be translated to a target natural language and wherein if the construct is a function or a variable name, the words of the construct to be translated are delimited in the source code according to a coding convention;
• and
• if the construct is a function or a variable name:
• identify words of a function or a variable name according to the coding convention;
• translate the identified words of the function or variable name, from the source natural language to the target natural language;
• and
• assemble the words as translated into the target natural language according to the coding convention;
• if the construct is a comment, to translate the words of the comment construct;
• and
• display the source code translated variable name or comment in the target natural language.

A method of operating a computer system to translate statements of computer program written in a programming language from a source natural language to a target natural language, the method comprising the steps of causing the computer system to:

• determine a coding convention for constructs to be translated;
• determine a construct to be translated;
• if the construct to be translated is a function name or variable name of the programming language:
• determine words of the construct to be translated by applying the coding convention to the construct to be translated;
• translate the words determined by applying the coding convention to the construct to be translated from a source natural language into a target natural language;
• assemble the words as translated into the target natural language according to the coding convention;
• and
• display the assembled words;
• and
• if the construct to be translated is a comment:
• translate the comment from the source natural language to the target natural language;
• and
• display the comment.
