Novel glucopyranose esters and glucofuranose esters of alkyl- fumarates and their pharmaceutical use

A compound of the general formula (I) or (II)

• wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8 and R9 are the same or different and each is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxyl, methoxy, methoxymethoxy, benzyloxy, acetate, acetonide and X, and
• R10 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxyl, —CH2OH, —CH3, X and —CH2—X,
• wherein
• X is —OOC—CH═CH—COOR (trans) wherein R is C1-5alkyl;
• with the proviso that at least one of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9 and R10 is X or R10 is —CH2X,
• and enantiomers, racemates, diastereomers, anomers or tautomeric forms or mixtures thereof.
