Abstract
The present invention features methods for treating or preventing pain comprising administering an amount of a nerve growth factor antagonist (such as an anti-NGF antibody) and an amount of an NSAID such that together they provide effective pain relief. The invention also features compositions comprising a nerve growth factor antagonist and an NSAID and kits containing the same.

A method for treating pain in an individual comprising administering to the individual an effective amount of an anti-nerve growth factor (NGF) antibody and an NSAID, whereby the anti-NGF antibody and the NSAID in conjunction provide effective pain relief, wherein the anti-NGF antibody comprises one or more heavy chain CDR(s) selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a CDR1 having the sequence 5’ GFSLIGYDLN 3′,
- (ii) a CDR2 having the sequence 5′ IIWGDGTTDYNSAVKS 3′, and
- (iii) a CDR3 having the sequence 5′ GGYWYATSYYFDY 3′, and/or wherein the anti-NGF antibody comprises one or more light chain CDR(s) selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a CDR1 having the sequence 5′ RASQSISNNLN 3′,
- (ii) a CDR2 having the sequence 5′ YTSRFHS 3′, and
- (iii) a CDR3 having the sequence 5′ QQEHTLPYT 3′.
A pharmaceutical composition for treating pain comprising an effective amount of an anti-nerve growth factor (NGF) antibody and an NSAID, wherein the anti-NGF antibody and the NSAID in conjunction provide effective pain relief, wherein the anti-NGF antibody comprises one or more heavy chain CDR(s) selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a CDR1 having the sequence 5′ GFSLIGYDLN 3′,
- (ii) a CDR2 having the sequence 5′ IIWGDGTTDYNSAVKS 3′, and
- (iii) a CDR3 having the sequence 5′ GGYWYATSYYFDY 3′, and/or wherein the anti-NGF antibody comprises one or more light chain CDR(s) selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a CDR1 having the sequence 5′ RASQSISNNLN 3′,
- (ii) a CDR2 having the sequence 5′ YTSRFHS 3′, and
- (iii) a CDR3 having the sequence 5′ QQEHTLPYT 3′,
- and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
A kit for treating pain comprising an anti-nerve growth factor (NGF) antibody and the NSAID, whereby the anti-NGF antibody and the NSAID in conjunction provide effective pain relief, wherein the anti-NGF antibody comprises one or more heavy chain CDR(s) selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a CDR1 having the sequence 5′ GFSLIGYDLN 3′,
- (ii) a CDR2 having the sequence 5′ IIWGDGTTDYNSAVKS 3′, and
- (iii) a CDR3 having the sequence 5′ GGYWYATSYYFDY 3′, and/or wherein the anti-NGF antibody comprises one or more light chain CDR(s) selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) a CDR1 having the sequence 5′ RASQSISNNLN 3′,
- (ii) a CDR2 having the sequence 5′ YTSRFHS 3′, and
- (iii) a CDR3 having the sequence 5′ QQEHTLPYT 3′,
- and instructions for administering the anti-NGF antibody in conjunction with the NSAID to treat pain.
