Abstract
In a light source holding device holding a cold cathode tube (linear light source) by clamping it between first and second claws, the first and second claws are provided in such a manner that they are in contact with the cold cathode tube while being displaced in position in the longitudinal direction of the cold cathode tube. Consequently, degradation in display quality can be prevented.

A light source holding device for holding a linear light source comprising:
- two claws arranged to clamp the linear light source between the two claws;
- wherein
- the two claws are arranged so as to be in contact with the linear light source while being displaced in position with respect to each other in a longitudinal direction of the linear light source.
