Abstract
An ATSC DTV mobile transmitter synchronizes their transmission with other associated stations. An ATSC DTV mobile receiver checks if it is in an area of poor reception and, if so, checks an associated station list for determining if the same programming can be received from an associated station.

Apparatus comprising:
- a demodulator for receiving a mobile television signal for a currently selected channel for providing mobile data, wherein the mobile television signal occurs in mobile bursts and wherein a time period between mobile bursts is an idle time;
- a first buffer for storing the mobile data for the currently selected channel;
- a second buffer;
- a memory for storing mobile control channel information, wherein the mobile control channel information comprises a list of other channels for receiving programming being received on the currently selected channel;
- and
- a processor for selecting at least one of the other channels during the idle time for storing mobile data from the selected other channel in the second buffer.

A method comprising:
- receiving a mobile television signal for a currently selected channel for providing mobile data, wherein the mobile television signal occurs in mobile bursts and wherein a time period between mobile bursts is an idle time;
- storing the mobile data for the currently selected channel;
- storing mobile control channel information in a first buffer, wherein the mobile control channel information comprises a list of other channels for receiving programming being received on the currently selected channel;
- and
- selecting at least one of the other channels during the idle time;
- and
- storing mobile data from the selected other channel in a second buffer.
