Abstract
A system for operating a data storage device having a plurality of sectors and at least one port, each port having a transmitter and a receiver, is disclosed. In one embodiment the system includes coupling at least one of the transmitters to at least one of the receivers, providing power to the data storage device, detecting that the transmitter is coupled to the receiver, and executing code for exercising the data storage device.
Claims18
A data storage device, comprising:
- at least one data port, each data port having a transmitter and a receiver;
- and
- firmware for detecting a loopback configuration between one of the transmitters and one of the receivers.
An apparatus comprising a computer-readable medium encoded with a program that, when executed:
- detects a loopback port configuration on a data storage device, wherein the data storage device is configured to have a plurality of sectors and at least one port having a transmitter and a receiver;
- and
- exercises the data storage device in response to detecting the loopback port configuration.
A method for testing data storage device electromagnetic interference, comprising:
- on a data storage device having at least one port, each port having a transmitter and a receiver, coupling at least one of the transmitters to at least one of the receivers;
- detecting a loopback configuration between the transmitter and the receiver;
- exercising the data storage device;
- and
- measuring the electromagnetic interference emissions of the data storage device.
