Abstract
The invention relates to a method for improving caching efficiency in a computing device. It utilises metadata, that describes attributes of the data to which it relates, to determine an appropriate caching strategy for the data. The caching strategy may be based on the type of the data, and/or on the expected access of the data.

An apparatus comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one memory including computer program code;
- the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to perform:
- receiving an instruction to access a set of data;
- retrieving metadata associated with the set of data;
- in dependence on the metadata, determining a caching strategy for the set of data;
- and
- enabling the requested access to the set of data by implementing the caching strategy.
