Abstract

A method and system for constructing a business architecture based on a commercial ecosystem blueprint. The commercial ecosystem blueprint provides a layout of components generic to the ecosystem and its participants, each component having an asset type and an associated commercialization mechanism, and all the components providing a mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive representation of the ecosystem. The blueprint provides a common migration target for ecosystem participants seeking a relatively stable asset based business architecture. Each component on the blueprint, and the information technology system supporting implementation of the component, are configurable to adapt to particular participants and business systems. A collaborative network of such components may be assembled to provide a business system, and these components may be performed by other ecosystem participants, as determined by global sourcing and supply-line optimization.

Dependent claims

A method for constructing a business architecture within a commercial ecosystem blueprint, comprising:

establishing a component business model (CBM) map of a commercial ecosystem specifying a finite number of components, said finite number of components being mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive with respect to said commercial ecosystem, each component defining an asset type and an associated mechanism for commercializing the asset type, said CBM map providing a blueprint for commerce within the commercial ecosystem;
constructing a CBM map of a business operating within said commercial ecosystem, said map being a subset of the commercial ecosystem blueprint;
mapping the subset map onto the blueprint, thereby identifying a role of the business for operating within the commercial ecosystem;
and
using the blueprint to enhance said role.

first computer code for enabling a user to establish a component business model (CBM) map of a commercial ecosystem specifying a finite number of components, said finite number of components being mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive with respect to said commercial ecosystem, each component defining an asset type and an associated mechanism for commercializing the asset type, said CBM map providing a blueprint for commerce within the commercial ecosystem;
second computer code for enabling a user to construct a CBM map of a business operating within said commercial ecosystem, said map being a subset of the commercial ecosystem blueprint;
third computer code for mapping the subset map onto the blueprint, thereby identifying a role of the business for operating within the commercial ecosystem;
and
fourth computer code for enabling a user to use the blueprint to enhance said role.
