Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for decomposing cyclohexylhydroperoxide into cyclohexanone, said process comprising mixing an organic feed solution comprising cyclohexylhydroperoxide with an aqueous base solution in the absence of a transition metal catalyst resulting in a mixture comprising (i) an aqueous phase and (ii) an organic phase comprising cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol.
Claims13
Process for decomposing cyclohexylhydroperoxide into cyclohexanone, said process comprising mixing an organic feed solution comprising cyclohexylhydroperoxide with an aqueous base solution in the absence of a transition metal catalyst resulting in a mixture comprising (i) an aqueous phase and (ii) an organic phase comprising cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol, wherein the pH of the aqueous phase is higher than 9, measured at 25° C., and wherein said mixing is effected at a temperature lower than 170° C., and wherein the volume ratio of the aqueous phase to the organic phase is higher than 0.1.
