A method for the treatment of irritable bowl syndrome, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of 4-[2-(4-methylphenylsulfanyl)-phenyl]piperidine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof (compound I) to a patient in need thereof.
