Method and system for performing a task upon detection of a vehicle trigger

A method, comprising:

• receiving vehicle information at a vehicle's telematics control unit apparatus,
• comparing a predetermined portion of the vehicle information to a trigger criterion or trigger criteria;
• determining that a trigger event has occurred by determining that the predetermined portion of the vehicle information satisfies the trigger criterion or criteria;
• and
• initiating the performance of predetermined action instructions that correspond to occurrence of the trigger event.

A computer device, comprising:

• a processor configured to perform the steps of receiving a vehicle's vehicle information, comparing a predetermined portion of the vehicle information to a trigger criterion or trigger criteria;
• determining that a trigger event has occurred by determining that the predetermined portion of the vehicle information satisfies the trigger criterion or criteria;
• and initiating the performance of predetermined action instructions that correspond to occurrence of the trigger event;
• a memory for storing the trigger selection, the associated trigger criterion, or criteria, and corresponding action instructions;
• and
• an interface coupled to a communication network for receiving and transmitting selected trigger information, selected action information, and vehicle information.
