Abstract
The present invention provides compositions and methods for facilitating fusion of bones in a joint. The present invention provides compositions and methods for promoting fusion of bones in arthrodetic procedures. In one embodiment, a method of performing an arthrodetic procedure comprises providing a composition comprising PDGF disposed in a biocompatible matrix and applying the composition to a site of desired bone fusion in a joint.

A method of performing an arthrodetic procedure on a patient comprising:
- applying to a site of desired bone fusion in a joint a composition comprising a platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) solution and a biocompatible matrix, wherein the solution is incorporated in the biocompatible matrix.
A method comprising accelerating bony union in a joint, wherein accelerating comprises applying a composition comprising a PDGF solution incorporated in a biocompatible matrix to a site of desired bone fusion in the joint.
