Any-to any multicasting in a tunnel based virtual private network

• a neighbor logic to calculate the reverse path forwarding (RPF) neighbor for a spoke-to-spoke multicast route for a dynamic multipoint virtual private network (DMVPN), where the neighbor logic calculates the RPF neighbor based on NHRP resolution triggered by control plane traffic;
• and
• an establishment logic to establish the spoke-to-spoke multicast route between a receiver of multicast data and a source of multicast data, where the spoke-to-spoke multicasting route does not include a hub in a logical hub-and-spoke network.

A system, comprising:

• means for calculating a reverse path forwarding (RPF) neighbor for a multicast route based on NHRP resolution that is triggered by control plane traffic, where the multicast route is a spoke-to-spoke multicast route associated with a logical hub-and-spoke network that employs tunnel-based forwarding.
