A computer-implemented method, comprising:

• receiving a message identifying an event type from an upstream source;
• looking up a rule set to apply to the message based on the event type;
• and
• generating a new message for a downstream subscriber of the event type.

A system comprising:

• a subscription service manager module to register a monitoring server based on a request from monitoring server;
• a message processing service module coupled to the subscription service manager module, the message processing service module to receive a message having an event type from a subscription source and to execute a rule based on the event type;
• and
• a message generation manager module coupled to the message processor service module to generate a new message based on the event type.

A computer-readable storage medium including instructions that, when executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform a set of operations comprising:

• receiving an event input by a message generation manager module;
• generating a message selected based on the event input;
• querying a subscription service manager module to obtain a subscriber for an event type corresponding to the event input;
• and
• sending the message to the subscriber by the message generation manager module.

A computer readable storage medium including instructions that, when executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform a set of operations comprising:

• receiving a message identifying an event type from an upstream source;
• looking up a rule set to apply to the message based on the event type;
• and
• generating a new message for a downstream subscriber of the event type.
