Compilation model

A method to generate control system executable code, comprising:

• receiving a portion of compiled data;
• assembling an instruction list object from the portion of compiled data;
• creating an instruction list binary file including at least one link from the instruction list object;
• leveraging a PLC definition to generate a target executable code (TEC) program specific to a runtime target from the instruction list binary file.

A computer-implemented system that facilitates creating executable code for an industrial environment, comprising:

• means for enabling a programming of a portion of data within a programming language;
• means for compiling the portion of data within the programming language;
• means for utilizing an instruction list language to convert the portion of data into a portion of instruction list object code, the assembly object code is target independent;
• means for creating an instruction list binary file from the portion of assembly object code, the binary file is target independent;
• and
• means for specifically tailoring the instruction list binary file to a target resource by leveraging at least one PLC definition, the loader creates a target executable code (TEC) program at runtime.
