Abstract
A transgenic mouse model for colorectal cancer, pulmonary emphysema or cardiomyopathy comprises a transgenic mouse that produces suboptimal levels of latent transforming growth factor β binding protein 4 (LTBP-4). The transgenic mouse includes a mutation resulting in homozygous disruption of both endogenous alleles of a gene encoding LTBP-4, and develops colorectal cancer, pulmonary emphysema or cardiomyopathy.

A transgenic mouse model for colorectal cancer, pulmonary emphysema or cardiomyopathy comprising a transgenic mouse that produces suboptimal levels of latent transforming growth factor β binding protein 4 (LTBP-4);
- wherein the transgenic mouse comprises a mutation resulting in homozygous disruption of both endogenous alleles of a gene encoding LTBP-4, and the transgenic mouse develops colorectal cancer, pulmonary emphysema or cardiomyopathy.
A cell isolated from a transgenic mouse whose genome comprises a homozygous disruption of both endogenous alleles of the LTBP-4 gene such that said gene produces suboptimal levels of latent transforming growth factor β binding protein 4 (LTBP-4), and the transgenic mouse develops colorectal cancer, pulmonary emphysema or cardiomyopathy.
An isolated, transgenic mouse cell whose genome comprises a homozygous disruption of both endogenous alleles of the LTBP-4 gene, wherein the LTBP-4 gene includes a gene trap integration mutation in intron 5 of the LTBP-4 gene.
A transgenic mouse comprising a gene trap mutation in intron 5 of both alleles of a gene encoding latent transforming growth factor β binding protein 4 (LTBP-4), wherein the mouse produces suboptimal levels of LTBP-4, and develops colorectal cancer, pulmonary emphysema or cardiomyopathy.
