Abstract
A system and method for operating a storage system is provided. A plurality of operating system transaction entries are stored in a log, and a swarm of messages with respect to the plurality of operating system transaction entries is established. The swarm of messages is delivered to an operating system of the storage system. A processor performs a parallel retrieval process for a plurality of messages in the swarm of messages by processing the plurality of messages in an arbitrary order without regard to an underlying order of the messages.
Claims20
A method for operating a storage system, comprising:
- storing a plurality of operating system transaction entries in a log;
- establishing a swarm of messages with respect to the plurality of operating system transaction entries;
- delivering the swarm of messages to an operating system of the storage system;
- and
- performing a parallel retrieval process by a processor within the storage system for a plurality of messages in the swarm of messages by processing the plurality of messages in an arbitrary order, wherein the processor executes the plurality of messages in the arbitrary order without regard to an underlying order of the messages.
A system configured to operate a computer data storage system, comprising:
- a log configured to store a plurality of operating system transaction entries;
- a process configured to establish a swarm of messages with respect to the plurality of operating system transaction entries;
- an operating system of the computer data storage system configured to receive the swarm of messages;
- and
- a processor within the computer data storage system configured to perform a parallel retrieval process for a plurality of messages in the swarm of messages by processing the plurality of messages in an arbitrary order, wherein the processor is further configured to execute the plurality of messages in the arbitrary order without regard to an underlying order of the messages.
A computer readable medium containing executable program instructions executed by a processor, comprising:
- program instructions that store a plurality of operating system transaction entries in a log;
- program instructions that establish a swarm of messages with respect to the plurality of operating system transaction entries;
- program instructions that deliver the swarm of messages to an operating system of the storage system;
- and
- program instructions that perform a parallel retrieval process by a processor within the storage system_for a plurality of messages in the swarm of messages by processing the plurality of messages in an arbitrary order, wherein the processor executes the plurality of messages in the arbitrary order without regard to an underlying order of the messages.
