System and a method for cross-platform porting of business applications and making them contexually-aware on target platforms

A system for porting of at least one software application from one or more source platforms and making the application contextually aware on at least one target platform, comprising:

• a computing network including a processing device in communication with one or more computer memory storage devices;
• a module that identifies existing implementation artifacts of the at least one application;
• a module that transforms the identified existing implementation artifacts for generating a first platform specific model (PSM), wherein generating a first PSM includes one or more transformations between the existing implementation artifacts and one or more meta-models of the generated first PSM;
• a module that transforms the generated first PSM into a PIM, wherein the PIM includes one or more transformations between the one or more meta-models of the generated first PSM and one or more meta-models of the PIM;
• a module that extracts service level abstractions into the PIM from the identified existing implementation artifacts;
• a module that filters and rationalizes service models extracted for fit and reusability;
• a module that establishes formal linkages between service artifacts generated and business objectives thereby providing traceability between derived services and the business objectives served by the services;
• a module that derives dependencies between services from functional modules of the implementation artifacts;
• a module that utilizes the PIM for generating a second PSM from the PIM, wherein the generating of a second PSM includes one or more transformations between one or more meta-models of the PIM and one or more meta-models of the second PSM;
• a module that generates implementation artifacts from the second PSM;
• a module that binds the generated implementation artifacts with any existing services of the application on the at least one target platform;
• and
• a module that applies semantic Web service matching technology to automatically bind the generated implementation artifacts with any existing services of the application.
