A method of making an amnion-derived cellular cytokine solution comprising
- a) obtaining a placenta and isolating an amnion from the placenta,
- b) enzymatically releasing amnion-derived epithelial cells from the amnion,
- c) collecting the released amnion-derived epithelial cells,
- d) culturing the collected amnion-derived epithelial cells of step (c) in culture medium that does not contain animal-derived materials other than human serum or human serum albumin and, optionally, recombinant human proliferation factors, until they reach confluence,
- e) exchanging the culture medium of step (d) with fresh culture medium,
- f) culturing the confluent cells of step (d) in the fresh culture medium of step (e), and
- g) collecting the culture medium of step (f) to obtain amnion-derived cellular cytokine solution.
A method of making a sustained-release composition comprising a cellular factor-containing solution composition comprising the steps of combining the cellular factor-containing solution composition with an agent capable of effecting sustained-release of the cellular factor-containing solution composition.
