Abstract
A method of mixing and transmitting encoded media data, wherein the data is decoded, mixed and recorded only when mixing with other data is required. When no mixing is required the encoded data is transmitted directly. In further methods, two sets of media data may be transmitted to an output device for mixing and outputting.
Claims20
A method of mixing and transmitting encoded media data, comprising
- when no mixing is to be performed prior to transmission, performing the step of transmitting the encoded media data to an output device;
- and
- when it is required to mix the encoded media data with other media data prior to transmission, performing the steps of:
- decoding the encoded media data;
- mixing the decoded media data with the other media data;
- coding the mixed media data;
- and
- transmitting the coded mixed media data to the output device.
A mobile device associated with an output device and having programming for mixing and transmitting encoded media data, the programming performing steps comprising:
- when no mixing is to be performed prior to transmission, performing the step of transmitting the encoded media data to the output device;
- and
- when it is required to mix the encoded media data with other media data prior to transmission, performing the steps of:
- decoding the encoded media data;
- mixing the decoded media data with the other media data;
- coding the mixed media data;
- and
- transmitting the coded mixed media data to the output device.
A method of transmitting encoded media data via a radio link from a mobile device to an output device, comprising the steps of:
- transmitting the encoded media data from the mobile device to the output device over a first radio channel;
- and
- when it is required to mix the encoded media data with other media data, performing the steps of:
- configuring a second radio channel between the mobile device and the output device;
- and
- transmitting the other media data over the second radio channel;
- and
- at the output device, decoding the encoded media data and mixing the decoded data with the other media data, and
- outputting the mixed media data.
A system comprised of a mobile device and an output device, comprising:
- the mobile device having programming for transmitting encoded media data via a radio link to the output device, the programming performing steps comprising:
- transmitting the encoded media data from the mobile device to the output device over a first radio channel;
- and
- when it is required to mix the encoded media data with other media data, performing the steps of:
- configuring a second radio channel between the mobile device and the output device;
- and
- transmitting the other media data over the second radio channel;
- and
- the output device having programming for decoding the encoded media data and mixing the decoded data with the other media data and outputting the mixed media data.
