Embodiments related to configurable Media Access Controllers (MACs) are described and depicted.

A method comprising:
- providing information indicating a transmission medium of a gateway for transmitting in a home networking system;
- and
- configuring a medium access controller of the gateway based on the information.
A transceiver device comprising:
- a medium access controller;
- and
- an entity to configure the medium access controller based on information indicating a transmission medium of the transceiver device.
A home network system comprising:
- a gateway device, the gateway device comprising a
- a medium access controller;
- and
- an entity to configure the medium access controller based on information indicating a transmission medium used by the gateway device for transmitting in the home network system.
