Abstract
In a base station and a mobile station the pilot signal power in all carriers are combined for example by using an MRC (Maximum Ratio Combination) algorithm. Physical layer measurement such as Up-Link Synchronization and Angle of Arrival (AoA) are performed based on the combined received signal. The method results in that the measurement errors can be significantly reduced.
Claims20
A method of performing channel measurements in a multi-carrier cellular radio system, comprising the steps of:
- receiving a data signal on multiple carriers, a pilot signal being received on each carrier;
- combining the power of the multiple pilot signals into a combined pilot signal and,
- performing channel measurements of the combined pilot signal.
A base station, comprising:
- means for receiving a data signal on multiple carriers, a pilot signal being received on each carrier;
- means for combining the power of the pilot signals into a combined pilot signal;
- and,
- means for performing channel measurements of the combined pilot signal.
