Abstract
A transistor includes a first semiconductor layer associated with a first electrode; a second semiconductor layer associated with a second electrode; and a discontinuous layer between the first and second semiconductor layer. The discontinuous layer has a plurality of openings being formed on a nonuniform organic surface. Applications of the transistor include an inverter that operates at low supply voltage and high frequency.

A transistor comprising:
- a first semiconductor layer;
- a second semiconductor layer;
- and
- a discontinuous layer between the first and second semiconductor layer, the discontinuous layer having a plurality of openings being formed on a nonuniform organic surface.

An inverter comprising:
- a transistor for receiving an input signal and for generating an output signal, the transistor including:
- a first semiconductor layer associated with a first electrode;
- a second semiconductor layer associated with a second electrode;
- and
- a discontinuous layer between the first and second semiconductor layer;
- and
- a resistor coupled in series with the transistor,
- wherein the output signal satisfies a predetermined criterion in relation to the input signal.
