## Abstract

Disclose is a method and system for software remediation. According to some embodiments of the present invention, a data storage device may store one or more sets of related software application image blocks, wherein a set of image blocks is associated with a software application and is generated by parsing components of the software application. A communication module may exchange characterization data relating to image blocks with a client computer and corrupted block may be sent to the client.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A software remediation system comprising:
a data storage device storing one or more sets of related software application image blocks, wherein a set of image blocks is associated with a software application and is generated by parsing components of the software application; and
a communication module adapted to exchange characterization data relating to image blocks with a client computer.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system according to claim 1, further comprising an image comparison module adapted to compare received image block characterization data relating to an installed application image block on the client computer with characterization data of a corresponding reference image block stored on the data storage device.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The system according to claim 2, wherein said comparison module is adapted to generate a list in response to a mismatch between received image block characterization data relating to an installed application image block on the client computer the characterization data of a corresponding reference image block.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The system according to claim 3, wherein said comparison module is adapted to generate a list which indicates which image blocks are mismatched and to transmit at least a portion of the list the client.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The system according to claim 1, wherein said communication module is adapted to transmit a reference image block to the client in response to a signal indicating a corresponding image block on the client is in a corrupt state.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The system according to claim 1, further comprising an image generator module adapted to parse an installed software application into one or more image blocks.

### Claim 7

A method of remediating software on an computer comprising:
storing on a data storage device one or more sets of related software application image blocks, wherein a set of image blocks is associated with a software application and is generated by parsing components of the software application; and
exchanging with a client characterization data relating to image blocks.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method according to claim 7, further comprising comparing received image block characterization data relating to an installed application image block on the client computer with characterization data of a corresponding reference image block stored on the data storage device.

### Claim 9 (depends on 9)

The method according to claim 9, further comprising generating a list in response to a mismatch between received image block characterization data relating to an installed application image block on the client computer the characterization data of a corresponding reference image block.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method according to claim 9, wherein the generated list indicates which image blocks are mismatched

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method according to claim 9, further comprising transmitting at least a portion of the list the client.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The method according to claim 7, further comprising transmitting a reference image block to the client in response to a signal indicating a corresponding image block on the client is in a corrupt state.
