Abstract
Power management of a system. A request may be received to enter a first sleep state for a system. One or more processes may be performed to enter the first sleep state in response to the request to enter the first sleep state. A system memory of the system may be stored in a nonvolatile memory (NVM) in response to the request to enter the first sleep state in order to enter a second sleep state. Power may be removed from the system memory after storing the system memory in the NVM in response to the request to enter the first sleep state. After removing power to the system memory, the system may be in the second sleep state.
Claims22
A method for power management, comprising:
- receiving a request to enter a first sleep state for a system;
- performing one or more processes to enter the first sleep state in response to the request to enter the first sleep state;
- storing a system memory in a nonvolatile memory (NVM) in response to the request to enter the first sleep state in order to enter a second sleep state;
- removing power to the system memory after said storing the system memory in the NVM in response to the request to enter the first sleep state, wherein after said removing power to the system memory, the system is in the second sleep state.
A controller, comprising:
- one or more inputs, configured to receive input from a processor and to receive requests related to system execution states;
- one or more outputs, configured to provide output to a system memory and a nonvolatile memory (NVM);
- wherein the controller is configured to:
- receive a request to enter a first sleep state for the system;
- perform one or more functions to enter the first sleep state in response to the request to enter the first sleep state;
- store the system memory in the NVM in response to the request to enter the first sleep state in order to enter a second sleep state;
- remove power to the system memory after said storing the system memory in the NVM in response to the request to enter the first sleep state, wherein after said removing power to the system memory, the system is in the second sleep state.
A memory medium storing program instructions executable by a processor to:
- in response to a request to enter a first sleep state for a system, perform one or more functions to enter the first sleep state in response to the request to enter the first sleep state;
- store a system memory of the system in a nonvolatile memory (NVM) in response to the request to enter the first sleep state in order to enter a second sleep state;
- remove power to the system memory after said storing the system memory in the NVM in response to the request to enter the first sleep state, wherein after said removing power to the system memory, the system is in the second sleep state.
