Abstract
A delivery cannula for a site marker deployment device is disclosed. The delivery cannula comprises a cannula having a tubular sidewall and at least one slot intersecting through the side wall. Each slot is sized to have a predetermined width so as to be configured to receive at least one filament of a site marker. When the site marker is inserted into the delivery cannula, at least a portion of the filament extends outwardly from the cannula and through the slot. A deployment system is also disclosed.
Claims18
A delivery cannula for a site marker deployment device, comprising:
- a cannula having a tubular sidewall;
- and
- at least one slot intersecting through the sidewall;
- wherein each slot is sized to have a predetermined width to receive at least one filament of a site marker, such that the filament extends outwardly from the cannula and through the slot.
A site marker deployment system, comprising:
- a deployment device including a delivery cannula, wherein the delivery cannula is defined by an open distal end and an open proximal end and includes at least one slot intersecting through the sidewall of the delivery cannula, wherein each slot is sized to have a predetermined width;
- a push rod configured for insertion into the open proximal end and selectively slidable through the delivery cannula to the open distal end;
- and
- a site marker that is selectively interposed within the delivery cannula, wherein the site marker includes at least one generally elongated filament member having a predetermined sized filament diameter that is at least slightly smaller than the width of the at least one slot,
- wherein the site marker is selectively configurable between a first configuration, where the site marker can not be interposed within the open distal end, and a second configuration, where the site marker may be interposed within the open distal end such that a portion of the site marker is elastically deformed when the site marker is interposed within the open distal end;
- and
- wherein the site marker is selectively positionable between the open distal end and the open proximal end with the at least one filament of the site marker extending at least partially through the at least one slot.
A site marker deployment system comprising:
- a deployment device having a delivery cannula;
- wherein the delivery cannula is defined by an axis and a first slot;
- and
- a site marker, wherein the site marker includes a generally elongated first filament member, the first filament member is selectively configurable between a first deployed configuration, where the site marker can not be interposed within a delivery cannula, and a retracted configuration, wherein the site marker is selectively interposed within the delivery cannula, and wherein a portion of the site marker is elastically deformed when the site marker is interposed within the delivery cannula;
- wherein the delivery cannula selectively retains the site marker, wherein the site marker is selectively configurable in a sterilization configuration where at least a portion of the site marker is interposed within the delivery cannula and at least a portion of the first filament extends through the first slot.
