Abstract
The present disclosure relates to processes for preparing microparticles using a solvent extraction technique, including controlled addition and/or removal of the extraction phase.
Claims23
A process for producing microparticles comprising
- (a) forming an emulsion comprising a first phase comprising an agent, a polymer, and a first solvent for the polymer, in a continuous process medium;
- and
- (b) contacting the emulsion in situ with an extraction phase to extract the first solvent from the first phase into the extraction phase to form the microparticles;
- wherein a portion of the extraction phase is continuously removed and make up extraction phase fluid is added back into the extraction phase.
