Abstract
The invention features a method for treating a subject diagnosed with, or at risk of developing, a bacterial infection by administering to the subject a combination of biologically active agents.
Claims23
A composition comprising a membrane active biocide and a second agent selected from fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, β-lactams, glycopeptide antibiotics, sulfonamides, and antifungal azoles, wherein said membrane active biocide and said second agent are present in amounts that together are sufficient to treat a bacterial infection when administered to a subject.
A method of reducing bacterial growth on a surface, said method comprising contacting said surface with a composition comprising a membrane active biocide and a second agent selected from fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, β-lactams, glycopeptide antibiotics, sulfonamides, and antifungal azoles, wherein said membrane active biocide and said second agent are administered in amounts that together are effective to reduce bacterial growth.
A method of treating a bacterial infection in a subject, said method comprising administering a membrane active biocide and a second agent selected from fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, β-lactams, glycopeptide antibiotics, sulfonamides, and antifungal azoles, wherein said membrane active biocide and said second agent are administered in amounts that together are sufficient in vivo to treat said bacterial infection.
A method of treating a fungal infection in a subject, said method comprising administering a membrane active biocide and a second agent selected from fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, β-lactams, glycopeptide antibiotics, sulfonamides, and antifungal azoles, wherein said membrane active biocide and said second agent are administered in amounts that together are sufficient in vivo to treat said fungal infection.
