Abstract
Methods, apparatuses, data structures, and computer readable media are disclosed that perform emulated processing of packets communicated via a physical port between emulated network devices and real network devices. The emulated processing performs forward equivalence class classification on the packets. The forward equivalence class classification varies with the contents of the packets, and subsequent to the forward equivalence class classification the emulated processing varies with particular successful classifications resulting from the forward equivalence class classification.
Claims27
A method of network emulation, comprising:
- performing emulated processing of packets communicated via a physical port between a plurality of emulated network devices and a plurality of real network devices,
- wherein, the emulated processing performs forward equivalence class classification on the packets, the forward equivalence class classification varying with the contents of the packets, and subsequent to the forward equivalence class classification the emulated processing varies with particular successful classifications resulting from the forward equivalence class classification.
A network emulation system, comprising:
- test equipment with a data processor, including program storage storing programs including instructions executable by the data processor, said instructions performing:
- performing emulated processing of packets communicated via a physical port between a plurality of emulated network devices and a plurality of real network devices,
- wherein, the emulated processing performs forward equivalence class classification on the packets, the forward equivalence class classification varying with the contents of the packets, and subsequent to the forward equivalence class classification the emulated processing varies with particular successful classifications resulting from the forward equivalence class classification.
A computer readable medium, programs on the computer readable medium comprising:
- instructions performing:
- performing emulated processing of packets communicated via a physical port between a plurality of emulated network devices and a plurality of real network devices,
- wherein, the emulated processing performs forward equivalence class classification on the packets, the forward equivalence class classification varying with the contents of the packets, and subsequent to the forward equivalence class classification the emulated processing varies with particular successful classifications resulting from the forward equivalence class classification.
