Abstract
A first device (124) in a High Speed Downlink Packet Access environment (100) may generate a High Speed Down-link Shared Channel data frame (700, 730, 735, 750) that includes a group of packet data units, where a first packet data unit of the group of packet data units is of a different length than a second packet data unit of the group of packet data units. The first device (124) may further transfer the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame (700, 730, 735, 750) to a second device (122).

A method performed by a first device in a High Speed Downlink Packet Access environment said method comprising:
- generating a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame that includes a plurality of blocks of packet data units, a first block of the plurality of blocks including packet data units of a first length and a second block of the plurality of blocks including packet data units being of a different, second length;
- transferring the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame to a second device;
- and
- wherein the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame further includes, for each block of the plurality of blocks, a first information element that indicates a length of the one or more packet data units in the each block and a second information element that indicates a quantity of packet data units in the each block.
A device comprising:
- a processing system adapted to generate a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame that includes a plurality of blocks of packet data units, a first block of the plurality of blocks including packet data units of a first length and a second block of the plurality of blocks including packet data units of a second, different length;
- and
- an Iub interface adapted to transfer the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame;
- and
- wherein the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame includes, for each block of the plurality of blocks, a first information element that indicates a length of each packet data unit in the each block and a second information element that indicates a quantity of packet data units in the each block.
A method, performed by a base station in a High Speed Downlink Packet Access environment, said method comprising:
- receiving a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame from a radio network controller, the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame including a packet data unit and a logical channel identifier;
- identifying, in response to receiving the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame, a priority queue based on the logical channel identifier;
- and
- storing the packet data unit in the identified priority queue.
A device comprising:
- a priority queue adapted to store packet data units;
- an Iub interface adapted to receive a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame, the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame including a packet data unit and a logical channel identifier;
- and
- a processing system adapted to identify the priority queue based on the logical channel identifier, and
- a memory adapted to store the packet data unit in the priority queue.
A method performed by a first device in a High Speed Downlink Packet Access environment, said method comprising:
- generating a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel Capacity Allocation control frame that includes a value representing a number of packet data unit octets that a second device is permitted to transmit during a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel interval;
- and transferring the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel Capacity Allocation control frame to the second device.
A device comprising:
- a processing system adapted to generate a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel capacity Allocation control frame that includes a value representing a number of packet data unit octets that a radio network controller is permitted to transmit during a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel interval;
- and
- an Iub interface adapted to transfer the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel Capacity Allocation control frame to the radio network controller.
A method performed by a first device in a High Speed Downlink Packet Access environment, said method comprising:
- receiving a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel capacity Allocation control frame from a second device, the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel Capacity Allocation control frame including a first value representing a first number of packet data unit octets that the first device is permitted to transmit during a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel interval;
- generating, in response to receiving the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel Capacity Allocation control frame, a High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame that includes a second number of packet data unit octets, the second number being equal to or less than the first number;
- and
- transferring the High Speed Downlink Shared Channel data frame to the second device in an interval.
A method comprising:
- generating, at a first device, a control message, the control message including information identifying one or more High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol types supported by the first device;
- transferring the control message to a second device;
- selecting, at the second device, a High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type in response to receiving the control message;
- generating, at the second device, a response message, the response message including information identifying the selected High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type;
- transferring the response message to the first device;
- and
- transferring, via the first device, a High Speed Downlink Channel data frame of the selected framing protocol.
A device comprising:
- an Iub or an Iur interface to receive a control message that includes information identifying one or more High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol types supported by another device;
- and
- a processing system to select a High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type in response to receiving the control message, generate a response message including information identifying the selected High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type, and cause the response message to be transferred to the other device via the Iub or Iur interface.
A device comprising:
- an Iub interface to receive a message that includes information identifying a High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type identified by another device;
- and
- a processing system to generate a High Speed Downlink Channel data frame based on the identified High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type, and cause the High Speed Downlink Channel data frame to be transferred to the other device via the Iub interface.
A device comprising:
- a processing system to determine whether a second device is capable of processing a High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type, generate a High Speed Downlink Channel data frame based on the High Speed Downlink Channel framing protocol type, and cause the High Speed Downlink Channel data frame to be transferred to the second device via an Iub interface.
