A system for rerouting IP telephony call information, said system comprising:
- an existing IP telephony call, said telephony call originating at a first IP telephony phone;
- a second IP telephony phone receiving said IP telephony call from said first IP phone;
- a network routing condition, said routing condition causing said IP telephony call to be rerouted;
- a switchover instruction, said switchover instruction initiating a switchover of said existing IP telephony call to a PSTN.
The system of claim 32 wherein said call signaling in the IP telephony network uses a Session Initiation Protocol.
The system of claim 32 wherein said first IP telephony phone comprises a Session Initiation Protocol phone.
The system of claim 32 wherein said call signaling in the IP telephony network uses the H.323 protocol.
The system of claim 32 wherein said switchover instruction of said existing IP telephony call to said PSTN is initiated by:
- establishing an IP telephony connection between said first IP telephony phone and a first PSTN gateway communicatively linked to said first IP telephony phone;
- establishing a PSTN connection from said first PSTN gateway to a second PSTN gateway;
- and establishing an IP telephony connection between said second PSTN gateway and said second IP telephony phone communicatively linked to said second gateway.
