Abstract
Material composed of a polyazacycloalkane grafted on polypropylene fibres. Process for the preparation of this material. Process for removing metal cations present in a liquid by bringing this liquid into contact with the said material.

A material comprising a polyazacycloalkane grafted on polypropylene fibres.
A process for the preparation of a material composed of a polyazacycloalkane grafted on polypropylene fibres, in which the radical polymerisation of a polyazacycloalkane monomer carrying a group which can be polymerised under radical conditions is carried out in the presence of polypropylene fibres carrying peroxide and/or hydroperoxide functional groups, optionally followed by a functionalisation of the optional free amine functional groups of the polyazacycloalkane and/or by a saponification or hydrolysis of the ester functional groups optionally carried by the polyazacycloalkane.
A process for the preparation of a material composed of a polyazacycloalkane grafted on polypropylene fibres, said process comprising:
- a) the radical polymerisation of one or more monomers which can be polymerised under radical conditions carried out in the presence of polypropylene fibres carrying peroxide and/or hydroperoxide functional groups, at least one of the said monomers comprising at least one functional group capable of reacting with a free amine functional group of a polyazacycloalkane;
- by means of which a polymer is obtained which comprises the said functional groups capable of reacting with a free amine functional group of a polyazacycloalcane, grafted on the polypropylene;
- b) the reaction of said polymer with a polyazacycloalkane;
- c) optionally, the functionalization of the free amine functional group or groups, still present, of the polyazacycloalkane;
- and
- d) optionally, the saponification or hydrolysis of the ester functional groups optionally carried by the polyazacycloalkane.
