Abstract
An occluding system is provided that can include a first occluding device (e.g., secondary occluder) and a second occluding device (e.g., primary occluder). Providing two devices can better promote effective occlusion within the body lumen and facilitate advantageous occlusion stages, such as initial and long-term occlusion stages. In various embodiments, the two occluding devices are in operative communication with one another, such that the second occluding device is adapted to couple with or slide along a tail portion of the first occluding device.
Claims21
A system of occluding a body lumen, comprising:
- a first occluding device having an extension portion, the first occluding device adapted for deployment within the body lumen of a patient;
- a second occluding device operatively coupleable with the extension portion of the first occluding device such that the second occluding device is positionable proximate the first occluding device;
- and
- a delivery tool adapted to operatively position the second occluding device proximate the first occluding device.
A system of occluding a body lumen, comprising:
- a first occluding device having an extending tail member, the first occluding device adapted for deployment within a fallopian tube of a patient;
- a second occluding device having a lumen extending there through, with at least a portion of the extending tail member being slidable within the lumen such that the second occluding device is positionable proximate the first occluding device in the uterine ostium of the patient;
- and
- a delivery tool having a needle portion adapted to operatively slide the second occluding device proximate the first occluding device.
A method of occluding a patient's body lumen, comprising:
- providing a first occluding device having a tail member;
- providing a second occluding device having a lumen extending there through,
- delivering the first occluding device within a fallopian tube of the patient;
- operatively coupling at least a portion of the tail member of the first occluding member within the lumen of the second occluding member;
- and
- slidably delivering the second occluding device along the extending tail member to a uterine ostium of the patient proximate the first occluding device.
