Abstract
A human powered transmission for self propelled vehicles having oscillating power input levers displacing a pivoted power input member. The power input member pivotally journaled to a power output lever, the power output lever bearing on a fulcrum roller. The fulcrum rollers having a mechanism for adjusting the fulcrum roller along a predetermined length of the power output lever. Power output lever having a power output pivot, the power output pivot is connected to a flexible member for transferring tensile force to a unidirectional torque converter.
Claims16
In a human powered transmission mechanism having a structural framework, a left and right oscillating power input lever;
- a means of communicating said human power to one end of said power input lever;
- a means of transmitting oscillatory force from said power input lever to a receptive member of said transmission;
- a means of interconnecting and synchronizing said left and right power input levers;
- a unidirectional torque converter;
- a rotating power output element driven by said unidirectional torque converter;
- a means of conveying tensile force from an oscillating power output supply to a receptive member of said unidirectional torque converter;
- a bias spring exerting return tension against the means of tensile force conveyance;
- the improvement wherein said transmissions means of providing variable output torque comprises:
- a) A power input member pivotally mounted to said structural framework.
- b) A power output level pivotally mounted to said power input member.
- c) A fulcrum roller upon which said power output lever bears.
- d) A means of adjusting said fulcrum roller along a predetermined length of said power output lever.
- e) A power output pivot at the end of said power output lever that is substantially opposite said power input member.

- a) A power input member pivotally mounted on said structural framework receiving and transferring oscillatory displacement.
- b) A power output lever journaled to a secondary oscillating pivot on said power input member.
- c) A fulcrum roller disposed against said power output lever upon which said power output lever rocks.
- d) A means of adjusting said fulcrum roller position along a predetermined length of said power output lever selectively varying the leverage of said power output lever.
- e) A power output pivot transmitting oscillatory displacement journaled to said power output lever at the end opposite of that of said secondary oscillating pivot.
