Abstract
An absorbent fiber web has a base layer of cellulose fibers and an external layer that is connected at least across areas thereof with the base layer. The external layer is a nonwoven of nano fibers. The base layer and the nonwoven are connected to one another across areas thereof without a binder.

- a base layer comprised of cellulose fibers;
- an external layer that is connected at least across areas thereof with the base layer, wherein the external layer is a nonwoven comprised of nano fibers;
- and
- wherein the base layer and the nonwoven are connected to one another across areas thereof without a binder.
