Dynamically Configurable Bilinear Filtering System

A method for dynamically configuring a bilinear filtering system, comprising:

• receiving floating point texel data;
• generating normalized fixed point texel data from the floating point texel data;
• determining if an interpolation result is to be one of extended precision;
• performing the determined interpolation on the normalized fixed point texel data;
• and
• generating re-normalized floating point texel data.

A system for dynamically configuring a floating point channel, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory in communication with said processor, said memory for storing a plurality of processing instructions for directing said processor to:
• receive floating point texel data;
• generate normalized fixed point texel data from the floating point texel data;
• determine if an interpolation result is to be one of extended precision;
• determine if a plurality of interpolation results are to be performed in parallel;
• perform the determined interpolation on the normalized fixed point texel data;
• and
• generate re-normalized floating point texel data.

A system for dynamically configuring a bilinear filtering system, comprising:

• means for receiving floating point texel data;
• means for generating normalized fixed point texel data from the floating point texel data;
• means for determining if an interpolation result is to be one of extended precision;
• means for determining if a plurality of interpolation results are to be performed in parallel;
• means for performing the determined interpolation on the normalized fixed point texel data;
• and
• means for generating re-normalized floating point texel data.

A computer readable medium carrying one or more sequences of one or more instructions for execution by one or more processors to perform a method for dynamically configuring a bilinear filtering system, comprising:

• receiving floating point texel data;
• generating normalized fixed point texel data from the floating point texel data;
• determining if an interpolation result is to be one of extended precision;
• performing the determined interpolation on the normalized fixed point texel data;
• and
• generating re-normalized floating point texel data.
