Abstract
Disclosed are methods, compositions, and zona pellucida binding peptides and polypeptides for use in immunocontraception of canines and other animals. The disclosed compositions may include pharmaceutical compositions.
Claims22
A method for identifying a peptide that binds to zona pellucida of intact oocytes, the method comprising
- (a) isolating oocytes;
- (b) contacting the oocytes with a phage library;
- (c) selecting phage that bind to the oocytes, thereby identifying peptides that bind to the zona pellucida of the intact oocytes.
An isolated polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence selected from a group consisting of SEQ ID NO:5 (YLPIYTIPSMVY), SEQ ID NO:6 (NNQSPILKLSIH), SEQ ID NO:7 (AHPNTAPIHPKF), SEQ ID NO:8 (CLNSFLRSC), SEQ ID NO:9 (CLNSFLRSCKGG), SEQ ID NO:10 (CSSWYRGAC), SEQ ID NO:11 (CSSWYRGACKGGY), SEQ ID NO:12 (YLPIYTIPSMVYGG), and SEQ ID NO:13 (NNQSPILKLSIHGG).
An isolated polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence selected from SEQ ID NO:1 (LNSFLRS), SEQ ID NO:2 (LSTALRS), SEQ ID NO:3 (SSWYRGA), SEQ ID NO:4 (TGTSTRA), SEQ ID NO:5 (YLPIYTIPSMVY), SEQ ID NO:6 (NNQSPILKLSIH), SEQ ID NO:7 (AHPNTAPIHPKF), SEQ ID NO:8 (CLNSFLRSC), SEQ ID NO:9 (CLNSFLRSCKGG), SEQ ID NO:10 (CSSWYRGAC), SEQ ID NO:11 (CSSWYRGACKGGY), SEQ ID NO:12 (YLPIYTIPSMVYGG), and SEQ ID NO:13 (NNQSPILKLSIHGG).
An immunogenic composition comprising:
- (a) a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence selected from a group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1 (LNSFLRS), SEQ ID NO:2 (LSTALRS), SEQ ID NO:3 (SSWYRGA), SEQ ID NO:4 (TGTSTRA), SEQ ID NO:5 (YLPIYTIPSMVY), SEQ ID NO:6 (NNQSPILKLSIH), SEQ ID NO:7 (AHPNTAPIHPKF), SEQ ID NO:8 (CLNSFLRSC), SEQ ID NO:9 (CLNSFLRSCKGG), SEQ ID NO:10 (CSSWYRGAC), SEQ ID NO:11 (CSSWYRGACKGGY), SEQ ID NO:12 (YLPIYTIPSMVYGG), SEQ ID NO:13 (NNQSPILKLSIHGG), and SEQ ID NO:14 (YLPVGGLRRIGG);
- and
- (b) a suitable excipient, carrier, or diluent.
