## Abstract

The present invention provides drumsticks for training percussionists to use proper form, which may increase learning speed and enable faster and more efficient drum strokes. Each drumstick includes a tip or bead with a wing extending therefrom. The wing extends beyond the width of the shaft of the drumstick so that the percussionist must strike the drum head with wing extending parallel to the drum head surface to achieve a proper and acceptable sound. A grip is also provided to properly orient the user's hands for the matched grip variation desired.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A training drumstick comprising:
a tip, a shaft and a butt opposite said tip, and
a wing secured to said tip and extending in a plane on opposite sides of said tip.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The training drumstick of claim 1 further comprising a grip secured to said shaft.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The training drumstick of claim 2 wherein said grip includes a thumb indentation and an index finger indentation.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The training drumstick of claim 2 wherein said grip is removeably secured to said shaft.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The training drumstick of claim 2 wherein said grip is rotatably secured to said shaft.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The training drumstick of claim 1 wherein said wing includes an inside edge extending to one side of said tip and a trailing edge extending to the other side of said tip opposite said inside edge.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The training drumstick of claim 6 wherein said inside edge is oriented at a 45 degree angle to a longitudinal axis of said shaft.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The training drumstick of claim 6 wherein said trailing edge extends at a 90 degree angle to a longitudinal axis of said shaft.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The training drumstick of claim 1 wherein said wing is removeably secured to said tip.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The training drumstick of claim 1 wherein said wing is rotatably secured to said tip.

### Claim 11

A training drumstick comprising:
a tip, a shaft and a butt opposite said tip;
a wing secured to said tip and extending in a plane on opposite sides of said tip; and
a grip secured to said shaft having a first indentation on a first side of said shaft and a second indentation on a second side of said shaft opposite said first side of said shaft.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The training drumstick of claim 11 wherein said first indentation is adapted to accommodate a user's thumb and said second indentation is adapted to accommodate the user's index finger.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The training drumstick of claim 11 wherein said wing includes an inside edge extending to one side of said tip and a trailing edge extending to the other side of said tip opposite said inside edge.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The training drumstick of claim 13 wherein said inside edge is oriented at a 45 degree angle to a longitudinal axis of said shaft.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The training drumstick of claim 13 wherein said trailing edge extends at a 90 degree angle to a longitudinal axis of said shaft.
