Abstract
Adaptive filtering may be used to increase the quality of tone mapped, baseline layer encoded information. As a result, scalable video codecs may be implemented with improved picture quality in some embodiments.
Claims30
a method comprising:
- increasing the bit depth of encoded video information;
- and
- adaptive filtering the increased bit depth encoded video information.
An apparatus comprising:
- a device to increase the bit depth of encoded video information;
- and
- an adaptive filter to filter the increased bit depth encoded video information.
An encoder comprising:
- a baseline layer encoder;
- an inverse tone mapping coupled to said baseline layer encoder;
- an adaptive filter coupled to said inverse tone mapping;
- and
- an enhancement layer encoder coupled to said adaptive filter.
